So, there was a Secret Santa. And I drew
`Memnalar's character Dominic. We had to post it up here Christmas Eve, which for Jay is Christmas day my time... problem: Christmas Day, I'm at my stepdad's summer house.. which is in a town called Little Bay, aka The Middle of Nowhere with no phone, no internet and almost no cellphone coverage. To make matters more complicated, my brain decided to mix up Monday with Tuesday, wherein Mum said we'll come pick you up for Christmas Monday, and I heard Tuesday and planned to finish the Secret Santa Project on Monday... Turns out brains can make mistakes. Who would have thought!
Christmas Day after presents and an epic Christmas lunch, I secreted myself away and wrote a little story for Jay and Dominic... of course... more complications ensued.
The OC of mine I chose to do the gift giving was Hawk, and being who he is he happened to decide on quite the spartan gift, and of course, Nala being the person she is, decided that Hawk didn't give enough to Dominic and required me to make something better to add to it. Once I wrote the short story of what might happen if Dominic and Hawk met on a dark desert Christmas Eve... and Nala being herself to complicate the situation... I then set about trying to post and realising that my brother (who has the best cellphone reception), is out swimming at the beach. As it gets later Christmas Day I'm getting a little stressed because Jay deserves his Secret Santa and I can't send it. When my brother gets home I practically jump on him to set up his cellphone on the deck railing outside and give me access to his wifi so I can send it off. Problem: I only have my little 7" tablet with which to do internets (and everything, actually)... and I haven't found a good app for dA, and the browser is impossible to use on the tablet on dA... so the solution was I email it to him!
That evening after dinner, I start knitting Jay a little teddy because a teddy is what Nalana insists upon. I didn't want to post it here on dA until the teddy was done and this is why the OC Secret Santa is being posted so late on dA. (I just hope Mem got the email otherwise this is a very VERY late posting...)
TADA! Crazy weird as story about secret santas and time travelling aliens called Hawk! Lol!

The autumn night was pitch black, with no stars nor moon to light the way, but a touch of silver edged the hills, defining the border between the earth and sky. Two men stood in silence, watching the valley below where a flickering fire betrayed the presence of a small band of men.
David cleared his throat and glanced sideways at the man covered in bandages. "This is where two ordinary men would exchange Christmas greetings and wish each other well. But we're not ordinary men, are we?" He lifted one hand and opened his fist, showing his companion what he held. "A gift." Sitting on the palm of his hand was a silver bullet that caught what little light there was in a line of shiny metal. "Keep it in your pocket. When you think of defeat take it out and remind yourself of why it's in your pocket and not in your gun. Remember that you only need a sliver of hope to survive anything."
He paused, his bottom lip lifting as if stressed and he sighed. "I have a friend. She's very insistent--made me promise on my honour to give this to you..." he sighed again and pulled out a small roughly made turquoise teddy bear with a large smile on its face. "Nalana sends her regards."
Turning away, David melded into the shadows. "Merry Christmas, Dominic. May Lady Luck smile kindly on your endeavours."
Oops, and i just realised, "autumn night" should have been "winter night" fuckity fuck fuck. Ah well. I'll make it canon in TSU that on Shadow that the Festival of Light happens in Autumn that year... XD
