Special Prizes

Some months ago, I asked *DavidAyala if he'd make something very special for me.

My idea was to create bookmarks for certain five people who loaned their names and likeness to my five "desert kids" characters. It took a long time to get sneaky images for David to use and for me to organise getting access to a colour printer and laminating services without selling my first born child to Rumpelstiltskin. But it was finally done and sent off.

As far as I can tell everyone got their bookmarks on time (which was about the beginning of last week).

So, left to right... First in Nick ~speria, her character is a Kinetic, about a 3 or a 4, which essentially means she could lift a hatchback car or push over an SUV without touching them. She has a long scarf because the real Nick is an awesome knitter--and so is her character.

Next is Jaichi =JaiLatte, who, like Nick is also a fellow conlanger and pretty good friend. :3 Her character is Nick's cousin, they are actually decendents of the same Armon bloodline as Nama and Cheetah, thereby, if they're holding hands they can magnify each other's ability (I believe one term I might be using "Gestalt"), and so end up with a Kinetic rating at least double of their individual rating. So together they can lift and juggle a full fuel tanker. Jai the character is wearing a mad hatters hat because Jai the real person, wore a mad hatter costume for her school prom.

Next is Liz ~RedLion, dear friend of mine whom I have known for going on seven years now. She is awesome and lovely all on her own. But her character is a very high-rated Kinetic, with an approximate rating of about a 7 or an 8, meaning, if she wanted to she could level a forest, turn the wood into wood chips and then stack them in nice neat piles without touching anything nor breaking out in a sweat. The character Liz also is a Leadership Talent, and not someone who tolerates bullying. Liz on the book mark is wearing a Kimono style dress, because the real Liz is rather into Kimono.

Next is Levi, an old friend from another community elsewhere in the interwebs. Levi's character is a high rated Talent, if electricity runs through something, he can hack into it and alter the flow of electricity. So he can hack into mag-locks, security systems, the power grid, and other electrical appliances. If he survives to a point of full mastery of his Talent (and is that way inclined at that age), he could even hack into the electrical currents of the human body and make them do stuff. Levi is doing an air guitar, because the real Levi does that when he's stoked about doing something awesome... which he must do a lot because he's totally awesome.

Last, and certainly not least, is Xak `SanguineEpitaph. Xak is another dear conlanger friend, and he ended up with the fortunate (or unfortunate) opportunity where his character took fairly centre stage as a side character in Rise of Hawk. (And I didn't kill him--though I wasn't sure if he would survive until the moment he actually did.) Xak's character is a Time Psi like Hawk, technically a "Time Speaker" which essentially means he's a very high rated Time Psi (a 15 {Hawk is a 25}), and he's a black static Time Psi, which means his choices affect the fate of many other people, in fact, as a Principle Player, he helps to save the planet from a terrible firey destruction. Xak the character can dodge bullets... and not just at a distance, hold a gun to his head and pull the trigger, and you still won't hit him.

These five people are awesome. You can tell this by the fact that I only put awesome people into TSU as characters. But they are now officially part of the TSU cannon, which doesn't mean so much to people right now, but one day very soon it will.

On the backs of these amazing bookmarks, I hand-scripted their character's names into Ranqa, and then wrote out a basic translation of the name in Ranqa. Liz and Levi were the hardest to translate because, names don't end with s or z in Ranqa, and there is no v in Ranqa either... but we sorted it.

Now, I'm putting this in bold so no one misunderstands me: the art in these booksmarks are NOT mine, the pictures belong solely to *DavidAyala, if you think they're awesome and want some of your own, go commission him. His art is phenomenal and he should have far more love for his skill than he gets.
